What is WYD?

World Youth Day is an international gathering of Catholic young people.

Millions of Catholic youth from around the globe gather for a week-long conference to share in the joys of the Catholic Faith with the Holy Father, Pope Francis.

WYD was instituted by St. John Paul the Great on December 20, 1985 in Rome, Italy. Ever since then WYD has convened all over the world, drawing young people from every corner of the Earth to witness to the love of Christ and the beauty of the Catholic Church!
